Scope of Services:

Installation and load testing to 250 tonnes of 2 no. 600mm dia. concrete test piles and over 394 no. working piles. Integrity testing all piles

Location: Namataba, Mukono, Uganda

Completion Date: February 2015

Client: Kampala Cement Company Ltd.

Project Description:

EAP mobilised to site and constructed two test piles as per the client’s requirements. The test piles were been tested by loading to 250T using a purpose built pile testing rig.

Testing and piling were carried out to the specification by Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE-SPERWALL). 394 piles were required across four different structures. The piles were between 10 and 14m long, with reinforcement cages 6 to 10m log.

A working platform was constructed on top of imported stone base fill and polymer reinforcement grid. Concrete was provided by a local batching plant.

The reinforcement cages, which typically comprised 20mm vertical bars and 8mm helical bars, were constructed on site.

The working piles were installed between 9th December 2014 and 9th February 2015, including a two week closure over the Christmas period.

All piles were integrity tested using the frequency response method. EAP have the equipment to do such tests.
